Winchester Model 1873 Sporting Rifle 24 inch factory Octagon Barrel .38-40wcf. The serial number of this rifle is 291019 placing date of manufacture in 1889. Overall condition of this rifle is fine. Probably 85% original factory blue remaining. The factory finish is between blue and plum. No rust, pitting or damage to the metal. The bore is minty and will rate a 9.5 on a 1 to 10 scale. Most of the factory finish remains on the receiver with a tight, smooth and mechanically perfect action. The brass follower is unpolished and untouched. The brass follower has a nice even mustard patina. Case colors can still be seen on the lever and hammer. The wood is perfect with no damage or evidence of sanding.
